Intellectual Property

Intellectual Property (IP) refers to the legal rights that protect creations of the mind, including inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names, and images used in commerce. IP laws allow creators to control and benefit from their inventions and artistic expressions by granting them exclusive rights for a certain period of time. The main categories of intellectual property include patents, which protect inventions; copyrights, which protect original works of authorship; trademarks, which protect brand names and logos; and trade secrets, which protect confidential business information. The purpose of intellectual property law is to encourage innovation and creativity by ensuring that creators can reap the rewards of their work while also allowing society to benefit from the new ideas and inventions.
