Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The game is played on a circular or oval field, with a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch at the center. The objective of the batting team is to score runs by hitting the ball bowled by the opposing team’s bowler and running between two sets of wickets located at each end of the pitch. The fielding team, which includes the bowler and wicketkeeper, aims to dismiss the batsmen and limit the runs scored. The game is divided into phases known as innings, where teams take turns batting and fielding.

Cricket has a rich history and is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of Cricket. It is played in various formats, including Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) matches, each with its own duration and scoring methods. Cricket is particularly popular in countries such as England, India, Australia, and Pakistan, and it is recognized for its traditions and sportsmanship, often being referred to as a sport that embodies grace and strategy.
